Just received my x0x-heart and I love it. So many possibilities.

I currently have it setup as a little desktop module
connected to my soundcard and controlled by a program by Motu called Volta.
Eventually I plan on building the x0x-heart into an enclosure with a built in sequencer
but for now Volta works quite well.
Anyway,
I was looking over some x0xb0x mods and was wonder if someone had any suggestions on how to possibly incorporate them into the x0x-heart.

I'm interested in modifying (increasing) the Lower range of the Cutoff and possibly the EnvMod

Would these modifications involve cutting traces and or removing surface mount parts?
I've never been brave enough to delve into the world of surface mount stuff but I guess nows a good time to start.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I would also love to hear other people's experiences and ideas with there own builds and mods.

you can do the mods, but it will have to do some surface mount soldering. its not too bad once you get the hang of it (and if you have small tipped soldering iron). most of the resistor and capacitor designators stayed the same on the x0x-heart, so you should be able to find them easily. the cutoff mod involves removing or reducing r47. if you want, you can just solder another resistor on top of it, and leave the original in place.

to do the bass boost, you can also just solder the larger caps on top of the old ones. if you want to make it switchable, thats a bit more difficult. you would have to take the old caps out, and then solder tiny wires to the pads where they used to be, and then run those wires to a switch with caps on it. you could use through hole caps then.

actually, if you are careful about it, you can solder through hole parts to surface mount parts.
